Grove LTC offers very good value membership for Junior tennis players. Membership prices range from £15 (aged 10 and under) to £50 (16 to 18).
Coaching for Juniors
We offer regular group coaching sessions for Juniors. Alex can also offer one to one coaching for those players who are really keen to improve their game. For more information have a look at the coaching page.
When Can I use the Courts?
Grove LTC does not have a policy of booking courts. At times the courts are allocated for official purposes and Juniors need to be aware of this. More information can be found on the Playing Arrangements page. Juniors are free to use the courts on Mondays to Fridays from 7-30am to 6pm. However they can use the courts after 6pm if they are not needed by adult members. On Saturdays, Juniors need to be aware of when matches take place and from April to October, 3 courts are usually required, from 2pm to 6pm for one of the teams. On Sundays, Juniors can use the courts from 7-30am until 1-30pm, except when junior matches are being played May - July 10am - 1pm and 2 courts will be needed for the match.
During the School holidays, Juniors should be aware that Midweek social members use the courts on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 1-30pm to 3-30pm and courts 1 and 4 should be made available for Midweek members. Juniors are free to use courts 2 and 3 during these times, if they are not in use by other members.
Grove LTC has always had an approach to welcome Junior players, and encourage them to take part in competition.
Our current first team Captain, John Clephan started at Grove as a Junior member. There are currently lots of former Grove Juniors playing in our teams.
Our Tennis Coach Alex, can arrange for Juniors to join a Box League (between Grove Juniors), once Juniors have moved on to full ball. It is for the Juniors involved, to look at who they are due to play on the Junior notice board, and arrange the matches themselves.
There are 3 competitions for Juniors to enter in the annual internal club tournament. Entries for the 2016 Tournament are now closed.
Grove has one Junior team (15 years of age and under) that plays on Sunday mornings, 10am to 1pm from May to June. This is a great opportunity to compete against Juniors of other tennis club. Either Alex or Kay Rollings (Grove Junior Organiser and Welfare Officer) will be able to provide transport to away venues and will be on hand during the match. There are 4 players in each team. If you would like to be considered for the team, please contact Alex who will assess your readiness.
The third ever Juniors Decathlon Team Tournament took place in September 2016. The fist ever event in 2014, was a great success. To find out more and see some photos Click Here.

I'd never been to a tennis camp before, so I didn't really know what to expect. It was such good fun, that I ended up going to all 3 days. I now do regular coaching at Grove and have become a Junior member. The coaching was great and really enjoyable. I am looking forward to the next tennis camp
The Summer 2014, 2015 and 2016 School Holiday Tennis Camps have been a great success, with record numbers of young people attending. The photos from 23 July 2014 can be seen here.
Opportunities in our Adult teams
If you feel you have reached a good standard, and are interested in playing in our adult teams, you should speak to Alex, who will be able to assess your standard and if appropriate speak to the team captains.
Special Junior Category
Occasionally the Club will identify a Junior player, who it considers to be of a sufficient playing standard to play in one of the Adult teams. The usual process is for a recommendation from the Club Coach and for this to be confirmed by one of the Team Captains. The Special Junior category allows the Junior to play tennis until 9pm, whilst playing in adult tennis matches.
Standards of behaviour
Grove LTC expects all Junior members to play tennis in a respectful and sporting manner. We want our members to enjoy playing tennis and have fun on court, but this needs to be in a way that is respectful to other members and our neighbours.
Use of Club Tennis Balls
Juniors are free to use 3 balls per court, from the supply in the Clubhouse. Tennis balls must be returned after play.
